PPGJLI is holding a Youth Writing Competition to inspire BIPOC youth to write.

Writing is a powerful way to share stories and preserve culture.

This year's theme is Kwanzaa!

The winner of the competition will receive:

    🗸  $200 prize

🗸  10 copies of their published book

🗸  honor at a community celebration

In order for a young writer to participate they need to be:

🗸  MN resident of African American heritage

    🗸  ages 8-17

The Kwanzaa themed book can be:

    🗸  fiction or nonfiction

    🗸  board book: 50-125 words (ages 0-4)

    🗸  picture book: 300 words (ages 4-8)

This is made possible with a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council through the Minnesota Disaster Recovery Fund.

It is a great opportunity to boost self-confidence and self-motivation, so pass the word to as many youth as possible.

Social impact is not accidental.

It is a result of people coming together around a collective vision, a collective vision that happens one step at a time and includes all of us.
