FAMILIA!

You know - sometimes, in the midst of all the truth telling and social media posting and momming, I forget that some of y'all may not really know much about me. That's what that picture up there is about.

That photo is pure Adiba.

Absurd. Funny. Unbothered. Human. Unashamed. In heels.

Well, pre-pandemic I was in heels. But pre-pandemic I was also wearing a bra and pants with zippers, most days, so there's that. But basically, what I am saying is I live my life for me, not for society or the media or klout (is that still a thing the kids are saying?). I live in a way that feels good for me, that feels authentic for me, and hopefully in a way that won't cost my daughter too much in therapy down the line.

That means that sometimes I stick my foot in my mouth, or say things that sounded funny in the moment but upon playback or further reflection, maybe not so much. But, I'm human, so I try to show myself some grace when I fumble. And believe me - I FUMBLE A LOT. There's a podcast down below and after listening to it, I think there are probably a few fumbles in there. Some things I didn't say quite the way I meant to. Sometimes I could have chosen better words to express my thought. At the end of the day the thoughts are mine and the sentiment is valid, but maybe I could have slowed down…thought it out a bit more…not fumbled.

Anyway, human. I'm human. You're human. The ridiculously slow driver on the freeway AND the jerk who cut you off and hollered some choice words at you as he did it - ALL HUMAN. ALL FUMBLING.

Let's give ourselves (and others) some grace today.

Don't get it twisted though - I'm still that unbothered girl drinking wine in the pool in her panties and stilettos. I may just need a little grace from time to time.  Don't we all? I meeeeaaaaan, if you could have seen me trying to get out of the pool after that wine and in those heels, I think you'd agree.

Jussayin'.

Con amor y gracia,

Adiba

Check out what

the heck I've been up to!
