Weekend Rest + Reflect

Hello my dear friend,

A couple of weeks ago, I shared a post titled “seeking God when you’re tired, weary, and worn out”. But honestly, some days I feel like my tired, weary, and worn are just all of a sudden upgraded to sheer exhaustion; maxed out in every area - without my permission, I might add.

When we are so maxed out, it’s easy to feel lonely, unseen, and more than curious about when God will choose to step in and make a change in our circumstances. Will He do it? Lord, can’t you see I’m coming a little bit undone here? Do YoU eVeN hEaR mE?

Any of this resonate with you?

I found myself with similar questions this weekend. And God, just as He always does, reached out through His Word. You see, I was scrolling through Facebook trying to occupy and distract my anxious mind when I came across a verse that someone else had shared.

“For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish” Jeremiah 31:25, ESV.

“I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint” Jeremiah 31:25, NIV

To me, it was God’s way of interrupting something I was doing to try and escape the exhaustion and things I was feeling down about. But, He didn’t want me to ignore it. He wanted me to recognize His power and sufficiency for even this moment.

No matter which category you fall under today - tired, weary, worn out, or exhausted - He will satisfy the weary soul; your weary soul. To be able to satisfy, He must have intimate knowledge of your struggle, your needs, and your desires. And I find that so comforting! So I encourage you to hang on. Jesus is on His way to satisfy and replenish your soul.

Rest

Rest in knowing that Scripture tells us that He WILL satisfy the weary soul. This is a yes and amen promise, right here.

Reflect

  • Do you ever use other things as a distraction from what is making you weary? If so, do you find that it helps or that is compounds the struggle?
  • How does Scripture's promise that God WILL satisfy your weary soul change your perspective?

Pray with me

Hey Lord,

I am tired, weary, worn, and maybe even a bit exhausted. There are some things going on in my life that I'm just not quite sure how to handle. But sometimes, I forget that I don't have to know all the answers. I ask that whenever I start getting overwhelmed, that you give me the ability to bring my weary before you instead of trying to distract myself. You're the only one who can truly satisfy my soul. You're the only one who can heal what has been broken and bring restoration to what I cannot fix. So, I bring my weary to the foot of your throne and I rest in Scripture's truth that says you are sufficient and that you will satisfy my weary soul. Thank you, Lord!

In your name,

Amen.
