Hi, First name / friend
We wanted to do a little something different for the newsletter this month. This July is a special anniversary for Mineral Point. Fifty years ago, on July 31, 1971, Mineral Point was the first city in Wisconsin to be added to the National Register of Historic Places.
To honor that anniversary, we wanted to share a bit about the history of Mineral Point and the history of the building we (personally and professionally) call home.
Mineral Point has quite an interesting history.
From the glaciers of past ice ages leaving this part of the country untouched to Native American's trading minerals with French fur traders. The early lead mining Cornish immigrants that settled in Mineral Point in the 1830's to the first governor of Wisconsin Territory, Henry Dodge, being inaugurated in downtown Mineral Point in 1836. And from all the early artists and historians that settled here in the early 1900's to the colorful collection of people who call Mineral Point home today.
Mineral Point has seen so many interesting people, all of whom have been collecting memories and celebrating milestones from within this wonderfully beautiful and creative community.
We love it here.
