- BUSINESS UPDATE -

Based on recent job postings, the anesthesiologist and CRNA job market in both Southeastern MI, Northern Ohio and the surrounding area is very active. With contract changes by a number of hospitals and health systems, opportunities are available for A4 to pick up new contracts. 2021 has been positive and A4 has been successful in picking up both short term staffing engagements and new service contracts.

As of the beginning of July, A4 is concluding a six-month engagement with Genesis Hospital in Ohio. A4 began staffing two full-time anesthesiologists in January of 2021 to Genesis, and the hospital was so happy they asked to continue services for another six-months.

In March we began providing service to the Toledo Vision Center in Sylvania Ohio. This is part of the Toldeo Clinic, a large multi-specialty group that has physicians throughout the Toledo area.  Then in April of 2021, A4 began providing staffing services to McLaren Lapeer, supplementing staffing for their current anesthesia provider. A4 is actively discussing the transition of services at McLaren Lapeer with A4 assuming services on or before December 1, 2021.

Recently we learned that the ophthalmologists at the Vision Center will be joining ProMedica health system as of August 1, 2021. While we thought this would end our relationship at the Vision center, ProMedica expressed a desire for A4 to stay on. We are currently discussing arrangements with ProMedica.

We will continue to update you on new opportunities as they become available. Thank you for your continued support.

Corporate Office Steps Challenge

The corporate office including A4 Management, MAC and Siromed administrative staff, had a friendly and somewhat competitive Steps Challenge in the months of April through May for a 45-day period.

Some fun statistics from the desk of our Financial Analyst, Katherine Putt:

  • All together the participants walked a total of 4,746 miles - approximately the distance from Ann Arbor, MI to San Diego, CA and back.
  • Every team met the challenge of 1,000,000 steps.
  • The top three finishers walked respectively: Lori Holbrook with 750,512 steps, Deana Tammara with 811,110 steps and Jacquie Segal with 821,987 steps.

Thank you all that participated in the challenge and the survey following the challenge. Your comments have been taken into consideration and will make this challenge even more fun for next year.

Basil Anyone…

You should all have received a compostable seed stake in the mail to grow fresh basil. We hope you enjoy growing it and using it in your summer dishes. As part of our green initiative, one tree was planted for placing the basil seed stake order with Eco Promotional Products. With this tree, A4 each year will help remove 50 pounds of pollution from the global atmosphere replacing it with life-giving oxygen.

As a general rule, expenses submitted by the 15th will be paid by the end of the month. Mileage rates for 2021 have changed and are now .56 per mile, so make sure you are using the most current forms. Please submit all forms and receipts as attachments as photos do not print well.

Please contact Peggy at phillyard@a4anes.net with any questions or to obtain the proper form.

BILLING:

MAC has been working hard during the pandemic to assist our patients in paying their bills while remaining empathetic to patients who may be going through hard times.  We have seen an increase in calls from patients wanting to make payment arrangements and we will continue to work with them through the struggles. MAC staff has continued helping each other to maintain the aging as well as keeping our budget stable while volume has been low. We are starting to see a slight increase on volume and believe this trend will continue
