Welcome to the New Moon in Cancer!

Hello dear First name / one,

Our last new moon was the annular eclipse in Gemini back on June 10, and I hope that since the eclipse portal things have run a little more smoothly. It was pretty rocky there for a minute. In the last month, what new information was exposed around or through your communications and close relationships? How has this changed the way you are relating to your community, or to the larger collective?

Have you been able to integrate this information and shift your perspective, or are you still resisting transformation? And that’s okay if you are! Change is uncomfortable. We may not like how it looks on us, yet. Or we have trouble trusting in the process.

Lately, I have been having conversations with friends around the concept of “faithing.” What does it look like to have faith—which can be a controversial term on its own—when we’re feeling a little out of control? This has been a pretty consistent theme for me this year, and although I’ve been practicing trust in the process for many years now, having faith feels very different. I can trust that my garden will grow based on the work I’ve put into it, but trust requires something to be fulfilled. I can still be proven wrong. My trust can be broken. Faith on the other hand, feels more like an undercurrent. Like the groundwater we can’t see that nourishes the roots and the mycelium, it exists without my input or effort. Once I know that it is there, all I do is practice tapping into it.

This is not to say I don't work at things. I am a firm believer that “ease culture” creates a false narrative that diminishes our personal power. But with access to my Inner Authority and by embracing my gifts and my strategy, it is easier to have faith simply by being in alignment with myself.

Tomorrow’s new moon in Cancer will center around our relationships to home and our family, and heighten emotional sensitivity. As a new moon, it is an opportune time to make sure that everything extraneous or outdated is cleared away, and to begin projects or set new intentions for the month ahead. There could be some intensity around love, sex and finances, as well as some unexpected changes and limitations to these areas.

This can feel like a conflict between what you want to satisfy you in the moment and what you want in the long run, and you may feel the stability of your relationships tested. But the new moon makes a fortunate sextile to Uranus that can bring a sense of freedom and positive change. You may be more willing to leave your comfort zone, even desiring something different and exciting. Use this moment of heightened self-awareness and lean into your intuition. Don’t give in to the pressure to prove anything right away.

With its hard shell and powerful claws Cancer can certainly wall off and hold a grudge, but its gift is the ability to create a welcoming home space, to cultivate a sense of belonging. And what does that mean? A sense of belonging. To be at home with ourselves, to share that with others.

In the broader collective we’re still seeing ecological disasters, societal breakdowns, and the fight for the rise of the feminine (we see you, Britney ❤️). None of these are new concepts, but if you look, there is a shift happening in the way we are approaching them. While there is still much division, still a media driven focus on the pornography of trauma, there is also a slow and choppy pivot as individuals in community coming to understand how this affects our collective consciousness. When we can hold both the concepts of “the Other” and “the Oneness,” we create space for acceptance, connection and respect. This shift will allow us to cultivate a genuine and infallible sense of belonging to one another.

“Instead of always asking ‘Where do I belong?’—a question that is based in shortage—consider reversing your definition of the word from a noun to a verb, in which belonging becomes a practice of generosity as in, ‘I belong myself to that which I love.’”
