Every great recipe has a great story.

Many of you may be members of book clubs and I am a book club member too. However, it is a different kind of book club. I am sure it would come to no surprise that it is a cookbook club. A group of enthusiastic home cooks stumbled upon one another at the Tablespoon Cooking Co cookbook club. We selected our first book and started cooking. At our monthly get togethers, we taste recipes from a selected cookbook. It is a wonderful way to explore recipes from the book without messing up your kitchen.

Cookbooks can tell a beautiful story and are full of recipes for inspiration and discovery. They often push us to create a recipe beyond our skill level. In the end, a new dish might be added to our repertoire and a new skill set could be reveled.

Years ago, my mother gifted me my most treasured cookbook. It is a  simple, yellow, spiral-bound notebook filled with family recipes written in her beautiful handwriting. It is a reminder of our holiday dinners, recipes from her potluck meals she enjoyed with her work friends, and the many casseroles inspired from the pages of Southern Living and Good Housekeeping.

I am sharing my current favorite cookbooks and some classic favorites you should consider adding to your collection.
