Finding Inspiration at the Market

My passion for cooking was ingnited by my grandmother and sharing recipes I create from fresh, local ingredients is the

“why" I started my blog.

Shopping at my local farmers market is something I have enjoyed for many years. Up early on Saturday mornings, Steve and I head to Findlay Market, stroll through the local farmers pavilion, grab fresh from the farm produce. We then head inside to gather the rest of our groceries. I get so much joy from creating dishes that eventually I will share with you and my family.

Over the years we have met great shop owners at the market. They are more than vendors to us they have become friends. This summer, our daughter Lily is working at Madison's, our favorite grocer. Their shelves are filled with local produce, fresh bread and

unique finds from Kentucky and Ohio.

Last Fall, I responded to a call from the Fort Thomas Farmers Market, they were looking for vendors to sell their wares at the upcoming Holiday Market. The Market was a perfect place for me to test the waters as I started my new business.

It was a great success, I was busy every week selling my bourbon inspired gifts. What surprised me most was how well the jams and jellies that I had originally created for recipe content sold. Along the way I met great people from my community and learned about their food memories. At the end of my Holiday market I realized my business model needed to change slightly. Now I am a vendor at my local market and serve on the Board of Directors.

Eat fresh, shop local.
