Bee Club Presentations
On Monday, we spoke at the Clarks Hill Beekeepers in Appling, GA. It was a great experience & we enjoyed meeting the club members! The club is offering a FREE course to become a Certified Beekeeper through the University of Georgia program. Join their Facebook Group for more info.

ONLINE PROGRAMS

Apprentice Beekeeper

Earlier this summer, Katherine completed the first of four levels of the University of Florida online Master Beekeeper Program. The self-paced course is for beekeepers who want to improve their skills, have science-based education, and share their love of bees & beekeeping with others along the way! There are also short courses covering everything from Varroa Management to Public Speaking. We encourage you to check it out :)

THE TRAVELING BEES

Sourwood Honey

Once again, we took bees to North Carolina for the sourwood flow. They spent just over 6 weeks outside of Franklin. We brought them home earlier today and will harvest the honey this weekend. The trailer felt heavy on the way home so fingers crossed 🤞for lots of the good stuff!  

WILDFLOWER HONEYLocal Honey

Speaking of honey, our wildflower honey harvest was impacted by the late frost at the end of April. We were still able to extract several buckets in June, but yields were much lower than the previous year. However, we do love the new Maxant

Extractor — it can hold up to 20 frames of both medium and deeps! 

THE BASICS OF BEES AT THE LIBRARY

Summer Program RecapWe were very happy with the summer program ‘Basics of Bees’ that took place over 5 weeks at the Sparta-Hancock Library. Caroline Lacksen, M. Ed. did a phenomenal job instructing and leading the students through lessons and learning activities. We are grateful to Caroline, The Bee Cause Project, and the Lake Country Beekeepers Association who provided the support for this program.
