I'm Weak, and I Hope You Are Too Boo
First name / Friend, you've probably read the sub-title thinking, “What's Olayide on about?”
Here's what I'm on about…
I had been on the phone with a friend recounting some of my experiences these past few months, analysing my feelings, realising that I'm not over incidents that I thought I was over, and asking God for respite from it all. We spoke for a while, and the word “weak” came up. My friend said [paraphrase], “Where you are is the best place to be in, even though you're weak right now.”
We continued talking, and then I came back to her point.
“Yes, I am weak, and I agree, this is the best place for me to be in because, in my weakness, God's power is made strong. Therefore, God has more room to move in my life.”
These words are valid and easy to recite, but remembering and believing them when you're going through it can be hard!
And this is why we’re told to encourage each other with God’s word and in prayer so that we’re reminded that Christ is the One who helps us in our trying times.
In my weakness, a weakness I didn't ask for, a weakness I never imagined, God's power is proving to be strong every single day! God's power strengthens me when I want to give up, and on the days I do give up, His power strengthens and comforts me still.
First name / Friend, do not despise your weak moments because God is going to show up, and He'll use your experience for His Glory and your good because you've chosen to love and rely on Him. There's joy in knowing that we can depend on God to see us through our hardships because He is capable and reliable. So be encouraged by what The Bible says:
"Three times I pleaded with the LORD about this, that it should leave me. But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I [Paul] will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
