We are here at the sunset of summer, just before the dusk of autumn, with the Full Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius. This is the second full moon in Aquarius this year and it is giving us the opportunity to reinforce our unique and powerful individuality. At the peak of the full moon (5:01am PST tomorrow) the sun will still be in the sign of Leo. So this is THE weekend to wrap up your leonine expansion before the sun moves into Virgo on Sunday afternoon at 2:34pm PST.
According to the Farmer’s Almanac—and among other names I wish I had the time and space to address like “Flying Up Moon”—the August full moon is called the Full Sturgeon Moon in North American Indigenous and European folklore because this was traditionally the time of year when the most sturgeon were caught in the Great Lakes region and Lake Champlain. As summer came to a close, the waters were flush with mature fish and this celebratory full moon was a time to honor the aquatic bounty.
Fishing is an exercise in patience, trust, and faith. You can have all the right equipment and you can even be in just the right spot, but there is always the waiting, the trusting, and the faith that the big fish will latch onto your hook. We can liken this to creative inspiration or resolving inner conflict, with the body of water as our consciousness. Sometimes we go diving, searching for inspiration. We rake our minds for answers, stirring up all kinds of sludge, making it even murkier and more difficult for us to see the possibilities. But when we get quiet, drop our sinker and wait, the idea usually comes right to us.
“There’s an ocean of consciousness inside each of us,
and it’s an ocean of solutions.”
—David Lynch, Catching the Big Fish
How did things shape up for you during the new moon two weeks ago? There was the potential for unexpected events or situations that would require you to think on your feet and remain adaptable. Were you able to find some footing and take that progressive step forward? Did you find your light in a new way? Or really lean into your Human Design Strategy?
Tomorrow’s full moon at the critical 29th degree in Aquarius will bring with it a sense of urgency for emotional freedom and revolution. What sprouted in the last two weeks from those unexpected events during the Uranus square with the New Moon in Leo may take on an energy of do or die. Being that this is also the second full moon in Aquarius, the themes that were illuminated during the full moon on July 23, such as the differences between yourself and others and the need to establish something separate for yourself, can feel imperative. Be aware that you may want to rush a decision to be free of the pressure and remember the advice about fishing: get still, wait for the correct solution to be recognized by your Authority, and then ACT!
Where you need more freedom to step into your power, to be your authentic self, First name / my dear, will be transformed after this weekend.
The sun opposing Jupiter has a tendency for overconfidence and blind optimism. Howeverrr, the moon is currently conjunct Jupiter which brings expansion and good fortune in the emotional world of the home, friends, family, and intimate relationships. This may be a time where an opportunity for spiritual or material growth presents itself. Romantic partnerships can get a boost from this optimistic energy, especially if we are willing to share our good fortune with one another. Plus Venus trine Saturn fosters an energy of commitment over challenges.
With full moons, we reflect on what has been illuminated, what has come to fruition. Take stock of your summer. Celebrate the wins so far, and focus on the finish line. This autumn will be another transformational season, albeit in a different energy and areas of our lives. But it’s almost like we’re getting the hang of all this shifting, right?
I'll keep this one short and sweet. There's so much more to come in the next month and I can't wait to share it with you here first. For now, come and meet me down at the water.
I'm always happy to connect, and I hope that this resonated with you. If it did and you want to share the Moonsletter with others, feel free to pass it along! And if you're reading this and you haven't signed up, join here!
