Is the church a Rubik’s cube?

Is the whole process of growing the people of Christ perhaps more simple than we have imagined? Have we layered on too many buildings, full time personnel, programs, etc. to actually achieve God’s intentions for Christ’s people. Have we substituted “doing church” for our primary mandate?

You will see in my blog this week that I am asking that question. Over 65 years of walking with Jesus, and I am observing the implosion of Christianity in America. While at the same time, I have observed for decades how simple church life can be in other parts of the world. I am wondering.

Acts 2:42-47 seems quite simple enough. “And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
