Hi First name / friend

International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009.  This book celebrates the relationship between a student and her teacher who believes in her to “make her mark” in the world.  This very simple book can inspire people of all ages to appreciate their abilities.

Here are my 5 top fun ways to celebrate International Dot Day…

It's time for the 2021 StickTogether Dot Dot Contest!  Your students can create colorful dot art with bright, colorful and amazing designs. When the images are complete, scan them and attach in an email to info@letsticktogether.com with the subject: Dot Art Contest.  Include the name of your school and the age of the artists. Submit only 5 entries per teacher/librarian.  All entries must be received by September 10, 2021.  8 finalists will have their artwork turned into virtual stickerboards, and the image that is used the most will be turned into a physical sticker mosaic puzzle poster for Dot Day 2022.  For more details visit https://letsticktogether.com/blogs/news/2021-sticktogether-dot-dot-contest

4.     QUIVER AUGMENTED REALITY

Imagine the look on your students' faces when the dots they design come to life with augmented reality!  With Quiver it's so easy.  First your students will design their dot using the Dot Day coloring sheet.  Then they can scan their creation using the Quiver app on their mobile device.  This activity is the perfect combination of low and high tech.  Download the activity sheet here: https://quivervision.com/coloring-packs/Celebrate-Dot-Day

5.     CONNECT 4

Work together with your students to create an oversized version of the popular Connect 4 game using simple household supplies.  Bonus points for decorating the dots!
