A Note From Clare

Dear Families,

Hello September! We welcome fall with gratitude that school is up and running and children are being supported in their growth as a whole child. Again, we are faced with a year that is not easy. Chugach continues to be mindful as the Delta variant has proven to be highly contagious. I want to publicly recognize Maya for working very hard to ensure our school is following all protocols and safety measures. I am committed to being as transparent as possible with the community around all things covid-19. Our goal is to create the best possible space for in-person learning to continue. Dr. Bishop sent an email out that included information about how you can track the number of active cases in any school. This is through the district's COVID-19 Dashboard, that is updated in real time. In addition, I will be contacting individual classes if there is a positive case and Maya or myself will be calling close contacts, as soon as we find out if your child is in that situation. I am proud of the work we did last year to keep our children safe and I am committed to that same degree of quality of care for your family.

While we balance health and safety, we also hold the importance of learning as a priority.

Teachers have been working very hard to create curriculum maps. This work is unique to our school and maps address what each team will be teaching for the year: including theme studies. Teachers will be going over this at their open houses as well.

I invite you to join me in that continued expression of kindness toward one another. The work of offering a rich, rigorous learning environment during a pandemic is that of super heroes. Sometimes this work requires forgiveness and grace--as we all hit our limit at times.

The staff continues to amaze me, daily, at their dedication and commitment Thank you for all of your support from emails to pitching in for any need we ask--it doesn't go unnoticed!

Super Simple 2021-22
Our Chugach Community Fundraiser!

Each fall, Chugach has our annual classroom fundraiser, called Big Simple and a Fall Auction to fund enrichment. This is the second year that the pandemic has ruled out an in-person auction for the fall, so our effort is a combined ask in hopes of supporting our school in these ever changing times. In past years, the suggested donation was $90 per child for the classroom and an additional $92 per child was raised by selling donated items at our fall auction. We know with COVID-19 there are economic hardships. We ask families to consider this year giving what you can, even if that is $5. If you are not able to give, we understand that too.

At our spring 2021 Community Assembly Meeting we funded a reduced budget with reserves from previous years, but do anticipate additional needs and want to make sure we can approach the next school year in a good financial position. Our goal for fall fundraising this year is $27,366, which makes our suggested donation $115 per child and we know we can get there! We are keeping it Super Simple this year! Donate what you can, when you can and help support Chugach Optional!

Chugach Educational Corporation is organized under IRS code section 501(c)3 as a tax-exempt public charity. Your donations to the Super Simple fundraiser are tax deductible to the extent of the current tax law.
