My Favorite Beautycounter item!

Hi there :) I'm Kristin and I'm so thrilled that Susi invited me to share information about myself and Beautycounter with you! I am an IVF mama of two little girls. I'm married to a writer, Chris, and we live in Iowa City with our two daughters and a 15-year-old Yorkiepoo. In addition to the meaningful work I do with Beautycounter, I also work full-time at the University of Iowa. It was our journey through infertility that led me to link arms with Beautycounter. Throughout our years of infertility, I became aware of a body of research that indicates there are links between ingredients in everyday household and personal care products and negative impacts on reproductive health, among many other health concerns. I quickly learned that I truly had little control over so many aspects of my reproductive health, but one thing I COULD control was the products I brought into our home. I began using Beautycounter products, fell in love with them and the mission of Beautycounter, and decided to join the company. Beautycounter was founded in 2013 by a woman named Gregg Renfrew. The mission at Beautycounter is to get safer products into the hands of everyone

and our company focuses on three pillars -- education, product, and advocacy.

  • Education: Did you know there has been no federal law passed to regulate the personal care products industry in the United States since 1938, and there are only 30 ingredients banned in the US, compared to 600 in Canada and 1,400 in Europe?
  • Product: We formulate high-performing products, using the strictest ingredient selection process in the industry, ethically sourced ingredients, and sustainable packaging while commissioning the most up-to-date research with leading chemists and researchers in the country.
  • Advocacy: We advocate tirelessly at both the state and national level, meeting with lawmakers to educate them about the lack of regulation, why it's a problem, and urging them to pass more health-protective legislation in the US.

And, though the name Beautycounter may lead you to believe this company is all about makeup, the name is actually a double-entendre. Beautycounter was named to be counter to the beauty industry. We offer a wide assortment of products ranging from a clean deodorant that actually works to a killer Vitamin C serum. Our product line includes skincare, makeup, bath and body, and sun protection. I have been partnered with Beautycounter for over five years, and I cannot stress enough that making safer swaps is all about progress, not perfection.

I like to "meet people where they are" to help them select safer products for themselves and their families -- on their terms.I truly enjoy connecting with new people and would LOVE to schedule a 1:1 consultation with you. During this 1:1 coffee date (virtual or in-person) I will ask about the products you currently use (don't worry -- I didn't use to have a skincare routine either!), listen to your needs and wants, and I'll offer advice on products that would work well for you. You will receive a gift from me after our meet-up! You can contact me at knsellers@gmail.com or 515.321.8953. I can't wait to chat with you! If you are a first-time Beautycounter customer and are ready to make a purchase, you can use the code CLEANFORALL20 to receive 20% off your first order!
