Hi First name / friend!
 

I'm going to try something brand new and take our emails in an occasional new direction! I've been thinking a lot about social-emotional wellbeing and the way we, in the world of education, are facing challenges beyond our wildest dreams. 

 

The resilience in the teacher community is just incredible, and I want to provide a place here to take a deep breath, read some words that build you up, and set your mind on good things before you take on your week. 

 

There won't be any promotion in these emails - just things I hope will encourage your spirit and slow down your Sunday.

pocket of peace

This poem came to me through Brene Brown and is written by Theodore Roosevelt. As a teacher - this resonates so deeply right now. 

 

β€œIt is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

  1. I've become TOTALLY obsessed with the app/website Notion as my new go-to productivity tool. If you love productivity as much as I do - you should absolutely check this out! I recommend this video, and this one, to learn all about it!
  2. You know your students LOVE giphys! This website, and the extension that goes with it, make it so easy to add gifs anywhere!
  3. My girl over at Half Baked Harvest is a wizard. I love EVERY recipe of hers I've ever tried. This make-at-home coffee recipe is just a dream. 
  4. This podcast is blowing my mind on every listen. You MUST check this one out. It will inspire you to take on your day with fresh eyes. 
  5. Well. This show is every bit as good as you've heard.
