Students and Staff Return to School After Storm
Hurricane Ida hit Louisiana on Sunday, Aug. 29, leaving over 1 million people without power. The Category 4 hurricane left significant damages throughout the state that is seeing high rates of COVID-19 due to low vaccination rates and the highly contagious delta variant. After assessing the storm situation, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System delayed the reopening of schools to Wednesday, Sept. 8. In addition, Superintendent Dr. Nico Narcisse and the school system formed an action plan for students and parents impacted by the storm.
