Hey First name / there how are you?
On the week I added a broken toe to my woes (!) this week instead of āwhy is this happening to meā - I've asked āwhat is this teaching meā. As you know I like to say that life ebbs and flows and there will always be challenges. I guess I've been reminded again how lucky we are if we can walk, run, get outside, get in the ocean or whatever lights us up. For me, exercise or movement of any kindā¦has been a blessing and never a chore after working with women with cancer for so many years. So the importance of my daily routines, my Morning Miracles as I think of them have been even more key to my wellbeing and resilience toolkit.
Current Morning Miracles
~10 mins of a guided meditation to ground and uplift me (includes calming breaths)
~5 mins of journaling
~5 mins of morning affirmations āI focus on what I can control & let go of what I can'tā
~3 things I'm grateful for
Self care is health care and I really believe that. Taking time for you each day boosts your self worth too & reminds you that YOU matter my friend. If you want to start - choose one. Make it so easy it's easy!
Waves and women
So on my daily gratitude list is being able to still get (limp!) into the sea and it looks like I have inspired so many of you to do the same. I have had so many messages and photos of women living their best life in the beautiful briny. Some that haven't been near the water for many, many years. Clients who have set themselves goals involving the waterā¦from cold showers, to lakes and rivers - honestly you are all amazing and inspire me every day.
Instagram can make friends IRL (in real life!)
Today I met my friend Penny who started as an Instagram pal. Social media can be force of good! We went in the sea together and it was calm and flat and totally wonderful! There were so many other women there too. Penny (amongst many other things) writes a great blog about Cornwall & running. She also took up painting again after losing the love from a misguided grade at school. The things we carry with us hey? This is her blog and her paintings of Cornwall are now in demand and is another reminder that it's never too late to do what you love.
The magic of the moon
Although I consciously never take health for granted this week's New Moon in Virgo was described as one of āholistic harmonyā. Perhaps it's a good time to focus on our health and wellbeing from that 360 degree perspective of mind, body and spirit. There is a lot of feminine energy as the moon waxes (grows) into Libra which has a focus on relationships. Perhaps the most important relationship is the one we have with ourselves. Something I talk to my clients about a lot is to notice how you speak to yourself. Does that voice in your head hold you back and sabotage your dreams, goals and wishes? Could your vision of your future and your happiness and success literally be on hold due to having a conversation only in your mind?
Self sabotage
We can āself-sabotageā in so many ways but it often comes back to low self confidence and lack of belief in ourselves. The way we see ourselves can be shaped by the labels and expectations placed on us by others. Or, we can let the perfectionist in us hold us back and procrastinate over every detail, over-thinking into cycles of anxiety and stress.
What are you waiting for?
I definitely have had my own imposter syndrome moment about talking about the moon for example. Who am I even?! But I realised it had become a real interest and hobby and started to hold some meaning in my life. The pull of the tides - so important on this North coast of Cornwall and sometimes moods too when I read about some of the energies around the moon started to make sense to me. So I've come out! I turned it around and asked myself if not me then who?
Is there something you would love to do or talk about or you have a passion for, but you are holding yourself back? Think of something you want or need to do right now. WHAT is holding you back I wonder?
Journal prompt:
What advice would you give to yourself 5 years ago?
Is it fear of failure, or not being taken seriously or fearing someone will think who is she to do that? My own little mantra is āwhat if it turned out even better than you could have ever imaginedā. I have so much to say on this but for now if we can face the world with self- acceptance and show up as we really are it can be life-changing. I read we can come from either a place of love or fear. So choose loveā¦love yourself first - be on your own side. Focus on what you think. Remember thisā¦.
āThere are people less qualified than you doing the things you want to do simply because they decided to believe in themselvesā
The moon is having a moment
I've studied, read books, followed women who inspired me about the magic of the moon and I'm not alone. I read that things we can't always explain have become trends following the pandemic as we look for things that bring routines and rituals as a feeling of comfort and safety to our lives. Apparently Victoria Beckham is also on team moon as she talked about her bottle of moon water she swears by. Friends you can make your own!
Moon Water
You may have seen my stories on Instagram (cue chuckles from husband) but this is what I didā¦
- Use a glass jar or container. Leave outside to charge with the moon's energy. I added a clear quartz crystal but not all can go into water but quartz, amethyst and citrine are all good.
- Set your intention whatever is on your mind you want to achieve for the month ahead.
- Leave overnight and et voila! Your very own moon water.
I used mine the next night in my super relaxing bath with oils and music and I can tell you I was feeling all the love for my life! Try it.
