Why do I only design leather for Apple products and not for anyone else? 3 reasons. - I’ve got a family to consider. It would be my full time job trying to keep up with all the companies’ updates.
- I scratch when I have an itch. So if there’s not a cool enough option to protect my Apple things, I design one. Then I show it to you and if it scratches your itch, then you get one too.
- It would feel weird if I just chased after how much stuff I could sell instead of designing things I personally enjoy. It wouldn’t be wrong, but maybe it would be for Saddleback. I can’t really articulate it. Trust me, you wouldn’t want me to go down that dark road.
But here are the Apple leather designs you may not own yet, but would be happy if you did. |
|
MacBook Pro and Air Protective Sleeves - One of our greatest secrets. Almost everyone at Saddleback uses them for laptops or for loose papers in their bags. And it’s super insulative against heat, which kills battery life and it protects nicely against shocks if you drop your bag. I leave my horizontal sleeve in my briefcase and vertical sleeve in my backpack and just pull out my MacBook Pro so I don’t have to wedge my laptop in there later. |
|
Airpod Cases - I like my pockets empty so I designed an AirPod Case that clips to my belt loop or bag. Sometimes I forget it’s there. Here’s my very cool video of it at Las Grutas de Tolantongo, the most amazing natural place in Mexico. |
|
AirTag Cases - If you don’t know about Apple AirTags, you should. Hook it to your dog, kid grandpa, keys or anything else that could wander off and it tracks it anywhere in the world. They’re about $25 each and super useful. And we have lots of keychain cases to keep them hidden. These keychains also hold emergency money, medicine or guitar picks. |
|
Leather Light Phone Case - Smartphones are too distracting, in a drip drip kind of way. So, I forward my iPhone number to my simple Light Phone for calls and text only and leave my little distracting pocket computer at work during the night and on weekends. |
|
Apple Watch Bands - I’d rather rub Sriracha in my eyes than wear an Apple Watch. And here’s why I said no to making Apple Watches bands. They have a lot of important benefits for some people, like my mother, to monitor her heart and are game changers for some exercisers. I owned an Apple Watch and got rid of it because it didn’t scratch an itch, it gave me one. And why would I want a nagging interrupting kid tapping on my wrist all day long. - It breaks my focus at work.
- It takes my attention away from my family.
- It takes my attention away when I’m with friends.
- It interrupts my conversations.
- It distracts me from reading and learning.
- It takes me down distracting paths so that I don’t have time for hobbies.
- I think they’re ugly and would rather have a nice looking timepiece instead.
- My iPhone tells me all I need to know, when I decide.
- All of the data you get is interesting, but if you don’t do something with it then it’s just a lot of interesting data and not worth the drawbacks that getting the data comes with.
- I need to be tracked more in my life like I need another hole in my head.
