Psalm 36:10-11

“Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart! Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.

”The appeal of the psalmist is powerful. If God does not continue His love for us, we are unprotected. But, He does! 

There is a limitation to His protection. It is for those who know Him. In the New Testament terms, to those who have been restored to Him though Jesus and know Him because they spend time with Him in and through His word. 

His righteousness extends to these same people. They are the upright of heart. They are righteous forever in Jesus and their hearts pursue God and obedience. 

The threats to this are real. The wicked want to stamp out the righteousness of God in His people. And, they want to drive them away from God if they could. 

But, God protects us. Through His love and His righteousness. Ours is to nestle firmly in knowing Him and keep our hearts pure and obedient.
