Reporting back from
Provence

This past month, Mad Rose Journeys went for a deep-dive into Provence with a private group. We began in Cassis with the magnificent Hotel Les Roches Blanches as our home base as we explored the wild and rugged Calanques and special family-run wineries of the Rosenthal portfolio in Bandol and Cassis. We continued to the Camargue for an immersion in all things camarguais, from rice and salt to horses and bulls, visiting the unique ecosystem of marshland and salt with ecologists and naturalist guides.

Our visit to the Domaine de Petit Saint Jean shed light on the effects of the changing climate on viticulture, and what growers are doing to prepare themselves and future generations for the challenges. Vineyard manager Nicolas Beck spoke to us about the domaine's conservation efforts and innovative projects as they plant more than 20 varieties of grapes to observe their sustainability over time.

Our trip concluded in Arles with a rich dose of culture as we took in the history of the ancient roman city and visited the long-awaited LUMA Foundation architected by Frank Gehry and filled with the impressive contemporary art collection of Maja Hoffmann.
