First name / My friend, have you seen the Wheel of Wellness?
 
It's something I came up with to explain how your heath and well-being isn't just about working out and eating “healthy”. The wheel (pictured below) helps you see that everything in your life impacts you, and your health.
 
Your well-being  is comprised of: 
  • Your mindset.
  • Your access to resources.
  • Your physiology.
  • Your safety and security.
All of these impact one another. Here's how:
 
If you're feeling stressed (mindset), your immunity decreases, which increases your likelihood of getting sick (physiology). If you take time off work to get better you risk falling behind, and potentially losing your job (safety and security) and the resources you have available to you through your employer, or what your income allows you to have access to.
 
And this is just one example. 
 
That is why it's so important to look at all of these factors when you're ready to make a change. Whether it's a weigh loss goal, or a marathon race time, your mindset, physiology, safety, and access to resources all matter.
 
Let's look at one more example. Say you have an injury (physiology), of course you get upset, maybe in experience depression (mindset), you feel less secure because you aren't able to do certain things like hang out with friends, or maybe even drive, limiting your access to resources.
 
Your health is more than a diet, or an exercise routine. It's also how you think, how you feel, what resources you have access to (gym, doctors, childcare, etc.) and if you feel safe and secure, whether that is financially or physically safe.
 
Take a moment to evaluate each of these aspects of your life. This will help you decide where you to take action to enhance your overall well-being.
