Don't miss the extra special part at the end of this email!
If this weekend brings any celebrations of the autumn season for you and yours, I hope you enjoy! I am personally looking forward to NEXT weekend when we turn the clocks back 1 hour (on November 7 here in the US) because my morning walks have been starting so late due to the darkness!

I am checking in with you today to share with you my latest Instagram post (see above), which has garnered some attention! Based on the messages I received in response, I said what many of us in this field have been thinking. It's incredibly frustrating to hear the many ways people are sabotaged by non-trained people when it comes to breastfeeding - including other health care providers. It's not a game - this is people's health we're dealing with here. Click here to read the caption that appeared with the post as well.

I'm also inviting you to watch my free webinar - think of it as an intro to The First 100 Hours Masterclass. You can choose the best time for YOU to watch it. I trust it will be inspiring and useful for you. It's free!

Quick story here: in September, I gave a virtual presentation to the Memphis Area Lactation Consultant Association (MALCA), a chapter of USLCA. During the Q&A portion at the end, one attendee asked a question about Late Preterm babies, and I was excited to tell her that I have a whole workshop on that topic. The organizer was kind enough to let me share a link, and one of the attendees signed up the same day and finished the course that weekend (it's a 4-hour course).

She was so excited and sent me this message: “What a wonderful course! I’m so glad I found out about it - this presentation will help me put together a bundle of care planning for families."

Speak soon, Friend!

Wait, don't go! One more super exciting bit of news: I have been hinting around for MONTHS about this. Annie Frisbie has a brand-new virtual conference called Clinical Complexities in Private Practice, and I am one of the speakers!

You may remember me hinting around about doing some reading on Recurrent Plugged Ducts, Mastitis, and Nipple Blebs - this is the finished product! This is a COMMON problem now, and it didn't used to be this way. In the first 15 years of my career, I saw maybe 3 instances of nipple blebs - now I see people getting them over and over - and in the early days of pumping and breastfeeding!

Let me share a tiny bite of what I learned and what you can hear in the presentation:
  • recurrent plugged ducts are NOT happening because we have an epidemic of people who are deficient in lecithin
  • most of the time, it's NOT about yeast/thrush/Candida
  • a silicone pump filled with saline water is NOT helping anyone get to the root cause of why people are experiencing recurrence of these lactation complications
I really hope you will TREAT YOURSELF to this virtual conference - it's full of tons of incredible speakers, interesting and unique topics, and cool features, like a podcast feed that allows you to JUST LISTEN to the presentations anywhere without watching the slides. Annie and her team are EXPERTS at putting these things together now and people are raving about them on social media!
