Autumn
Artist Residency

I've been doing a bit of work since my last email.

...but this is actually the case for many of us! I've taken the opportunity to enlist in an Autumn Residency through the Artist Alliance. A welcoming platform operated by @jentough.  In the beginning, I stated my purpose: explore shape or I like to refer to it as flexible form with a different palette. Once in a while you have to enlarge upon your visual vocab.

I'm also working on a different format, 20" x 20" on paper no less. I'm normally use a rectangular orientation.  I love working on canvas but I'm liking paper because my most introspective work is with line on a vast white plain of paper. I've taken to using Arches Oil Paper, specifically designed for oil painting. It has an efficient barrier that evenly allows pigment to remain on the surface of the paper.

I've dedicated a blog to the Residency work, click on the button below to read about it and view the work.
A sneak peek at one of the blog posts.

The Pacific Northwest has entered its rainy season. This fall we are in an Atmospheric River, lots of rain, but not very cold. Dreary and dull.

I had the good fortune travel to San Francisco this month to see the Joan Mitchell retrospective at the SFMOMA. Scroll for an exhibition preview. Friend and fellow artist,
What a creative strength Mitchell had drawing on the landscape, memory and poetry.
