Reflect

Sometimes, out of nowhere, something joyful grabs your attention in the most unexpected places. This happened to me recently at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto.

"The Tritons" is a stunning sculpture created by Toronto artist Graham Coughtry, "one of the artists instrumental in bringing abstract art to Canada".

It sits on a tiny plot of grass between the massive parking lot and mall entrance. The design made me stop, the surprise of it being in a parking lot made me reflect. Such joy.

Here's to enjoying the surprises that come your way!

Some great advice from the author of Atomic Habits:

"There is a difference between moving fast and rushing.
You can move fast and be thoughtful. When you rush, you sacrifice thoughtfulness.

Conversely, when you are thoughtful but not moving fast, you are overthinking it. Procrastination in disguise.

Don’t rush, but don’t wait."

Are you moving fast or rushing?

TIME LAPSE OF LEAVES CHANGING COLOR - Video by Yinying Xie

The leaves are changing here in Ontario and this time-lapse video captures the transition well. It was made by UConn student Yinying Xie, who predicts that climate change could make autumn come earlier in some parts of the Northeast. Beauty and reality converge.

How are you affected by autumn's changes?

Listen

In keeping with the parking lot theme, I recently heard this version of Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi which was a fun throwback. "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot. With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swinging hot spot. Don't it always seem to go. That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone." So, so true.

Do you have any paved paradise to protect?

Do

I've committed to writing an atomic essay (250-300 words) everyday for the next 30 days starting Oct. 9. Whoa! I feel excited and nervous. I knew accountability was what I needed to move my book ideas and personal writing forward, and this program sets you up for success in a huge way.

You can follow my progress on Twitter @JessicaTudos

How can accountability help you reach your goals?

Until next time,

Jessica
