Happy August!

Here in Ontario, it's been a hot and wet summer as we continue to adjust to Covid-era living...and climate change. For a multi-passionate creative like me, finding the balance between working, socializing, relaxing, and getting things done, is ongoing. Combining multiple interests is one way to find balance, as seen in this photo of my book writing + course creating session on Little Redstone Lake.

How are you balancing all the things this summer?

REFUSE TO CHOOSE - Barbara Sher

As a pioneer in world of multi-passionate living & working, Barbara Sher's 2006 book resonates in such a powerful way for those of us who aspire to do many things, often all at once, on our own terms. Her advice for "scanners" is to choose strategies that support this type of living, something I continue to explore on my own and through my work with clients.

Are you a scanner with multiple interests & passions?

Seeing more about "multipotentiality" make me so happy! Describing those of us with, "a range of interests and jobs over a lifetime with interlocking potentials", Emilie lays out what it means to be someone who embraces many different interests and creative pursuits. This video explains what strengths, challenges, and joys come from choosing to live a multipotentialite life.

WHAT IS THE PORTFOLIO LIFE? - Podcast by Jeff Goins

"A portfolio life isn't just about what you do - it's about who you are". In this podcast, Goins introduces us to concepts, creators, and challenges associated with living a portfolio life. My own portfolio life consists of teaching, writing, speaking, organizing, coaching, and creating, as well as parenting, relating, traveling, etc. Hearing about which essential skills are needed to successfully navigate this lifestyle was comforting!

Do you think we all live a version of a portfolio life?

Do

Looking for an interesting personal insight? Make a list of all the "jobs" you've ever had and see what comes up. I did this recently and it shocked me. Looking through my old resumes (Approx 50, I've kept every one!), I counted 66, and that was just the paid gigs. Reflecting on this collection of life choices is fascinating.

What would counting your jobs reveal about you?

Until next time,

Jessica
