I feel like just the other day I was writing to you about the New Moon in Scorpio and then yesterday, coming back from the park at 5:15pm, I looked up to see the waxing moon shining brilliantly in the dusky sky above me. Although I’m not as bothered by the dark, I am still surprised by the quickness of sunset, like he’s late for a party on the other side of the planet and doesn’t have time for a two-cheek kiss goodbye.
Still, there’s something so lovely about the autumn and winter moon. We get to spend so much more time together during these seasons. To really integrate the relationship with our inner emotional world.
Tonight’s full moon in Taurus technically peaks just before 1am on Friday morning west coast time, and it will be partially eclipsed by Earth’s shadow at 1:04, casting a warm red glow over our lunar love. Eclipses can feel chaotic, like a bending of time, because they are meant to accelerate us on our path. All of this recent work we’ve been doing with Uranus transits around change has been preparing us for this next eclipse season, which will last until October 2023.
The moon’s nodes (mathematical points in the sky that define the moon’s arc) are moving into the Taurus/Scorpio axis in January. So, while we’ve been working with the themes of communication, learning, and grappling with our institutions through patterns and beliefs since June of 2020, for the next couple years we’ll see a focus on the themes of balancing the material with the spiritual, creating new personal and communal infrastructure based on inherent self-worth, and building foundations from our new values. We may still see some power grabs and manipulation coming up with the low vibrations of the south node in Scorpio; objectively to remind us that repeating our historical patterns of using power to control others and our external world only leads to an infinite game of “one-upping”. If we’re going to move forward in harmony with the Cosmic Whole we must prioritize integrity, and learn to tap into our internal power and inherent worth, in turn valuing the inherent worth of others (or not, discord is also always an option 😉).
The eclipses can act as a portal, through which we can see past, present and future. During these last few days you may have been working on a problem in your inner world and something in your outer world pops up in exactly the same theme. You may have been thinking about a career move, and someone emails you with an offer or you get into a disagreement with a colleague. These events are catalysts, no matter how seemingly small, to propel you forward in your growth.
And this can be uncomfortable. I know. Practice that open and flexible mind you’ve been working with since this summer and try to see all the probabilities in each event. Respond (don’t react) with attention and care. You have the opportunity to dramatically rewire some old patterns and habits during this lunation. As many astrologers will say, don’t use this full moon for manifesting, eclipse energy is a bit wild and unruly, but it is great for keenly recognizing what is and is not for you.
If there is one thing I can leave you with from this communiqué First name / my dearest, it is to trust your timing. As a fixed sign, Taurus is resistant to change. It wants security and stability, with a penchant for the material. You’ve been coming into alignment with your core values this year, you’ve learned to be more flexible to change. Know that you will be able to handle what is coming, and it is coming to further you. Lock into the core values that you’ve been refining all year and tap into your inherent self-worth. Like the ebb and flow of the ocean tides, you’ll see the other side of things soon and this eclipse is here to present some shining insights into what is to come.
Remember there is multiplicity to everything. If you don’t like what you see, you have options. There are always other choices, alternative routes. If what is being presented to you during this eclipse brings up fear or insecurity, look for the through-ribbon. You may be presented with ghosts of your past to further you along the new path you’ve only just tentatively started walking.
