“Successful comedians—whether the skilled millionaire professionals airing on Netflix or the kids whispering jokes in the church balcony—know how to point out the incongruities of life. They recognize, as Norm Macdonald said, that laughter works best when it is least expected, when it can surprise and even startle us.”

Read this piece to see how conversations about Dave Chappelle's controversial Netflix special gave Russell Moore food for thought about the role of the church.

Pastors, Jesus’s invitation to come to him comes a full seventeen chapters before Jesus asks us to go and do for him. His great invitation comes long before his great commission. If we pastors are going to embody his gentle and humble ways in the culture, we must first address the messy, restless, anxious culture that can take residence in our own hearts.

Let's all try to be a bit more like this sloth today. Express gratitude, folks.

Marathons, along with Ironmans, are two of the toughest athletic endeavors on the planet. The ultimate test of strength and endurance. They're considered by most as barely possible, but not for the Team Hoyt, father-son duo. What makes this duo so special is that Rick, the son, was born with cerebral palsy, and is quadriplegic. And so, his father, Dick, pushed and pulled him in specialized wheelchairs, bikes, and boats.

Together they completed over 1,000 races. This is one of the greatest love stories of all time. A father who climbed mountains, ran marathons, traveled to the ends of the earth to give his son a better life. A life that transcends the limitations of his body. This story shows that through perseverance and determination, love conquers all.

Dick died earlier this year but his story still continues to inspire millions.

This video always brightens my day. Also, that heel toe was on point (1:57-2:20)!

Enjoy it? share it.
Jesus is better.
