I believe that the small, connective moments we share will  sustain us.

The very first thing I want to say in this new year is THANK YOU.

Thank you for being on this list. Thank you for allowing me into the precious yet often overwhelming space that is email. Thank you for the messages and stories you share with me. Thank you for the support and love you issue when I share about struggle. I believe that the small, connective moments we share will sustain us.

In this first week of re-entry I don't have a deep, cohesive essay to share because like many of you, I have been scrambling yet also trying to stay grounded through re-entry. My thoughts and observations have been in different places. So I thought I would share some learnings and reflections and little things that have energized me, even amidst the hard stuff.
  • These thoughts about 2022 re-entry – and how to play the persistent, consistent long game – resonated with people
  • I had a realization about acceptance and anger that is changing the way I approach suffering
  • One of my most impactful tiny-action-big-payout habits is setting up my coffee the night before; I only can drink coffee in the morning and it is such a delight to just go BOOP in the morning (give it a try and let me know how you feel!)
  • In late December I started a daily 1,000 word free writing practice; I have received a lot of questions about it so I plan on recording a podcast episode to explain what I am doing and how I make space for it
  • I am engaging in Yoga with Adriene's 30-day challenge; I am already a day behind and know that I will get further behind later this month but per usual, I am not concerning myself with finishing the 30 days in a row, just finishing them (this is the epitome of my “better done than perfect” mantra)
  • One thing I love doing at the conclusion of the Yoga with Adriene practices is rolling my shoulder area with these yoga tune up balls; it is the definition of “hurts so good”
  • I was so delighted to record this episode on how planners plan with Sarah Powers and Sarah Hart-Unger; I started using a pen after this episode LOL!
  • I bought myself the best stocking stuff at Trader Joe's last month; a Mood Odyssey set of four aromatherapy roller bottles – best $10 I ever spent (I don't believe essential oils cure cancer, I just really like good smells)
  • One of my sisters recommended this 15-minute qigong practice and I have been doing it daily at the end of my work day to try to counterbalance the effects of sitting for so long; I have never done qigong before and I really love this little flow
  • My longtime work wife Asha Dornfest hung up her spurs as my Edit Your Life co-host; I hope you will tune into this beautiful final episode – it is quite odd to both miss her presence and also feel excited and energized by this new chapter for the show (which will return Thursday, January 13)
  • I ended 2021 wearing the above pink velour jogger and hoodie and I have not worn a stitch of constricting clothing to date in 2022; I'm good with it

See you here next time.
Have a beautiful, restful weekend.

Christine
