The [personal] Good Letter

Hey, First name / Friend!

Good evening - how are you?

It's been a while since I sent you a Good Letter, and I had every intention of sending you one a few weeks ago (I even posted about it on Instagram)… alas, I did not send the letter. 🙊

But it's all good.

November hasn't been that busy for me, but it's been extremely eventful. By the grace of God, I've chosen to embark on a journey that I'm not prepared for, but still prepared for, if you get what I mean. You see, I left my job of seven years to do nothing but rest (at least for a month). It's been a tough year for me, career-wise, and it's only by God's grace that I made it through seemingly unfazed by it all - a bit like the Hebrew boys and the fiery furnace - ACTUALLY! A LOT LIKE THE HEBREW BOYS!

“Then Nebuchadnezzar came as close as he could to the door of the flaming furnace and shouted: “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!” So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stepped out of the fire. Then the high officers, officials, governors, and advisers crowded around them and saw that the fire had not touched them. Not a hair on their heads was singed, and their clothing was not scorched. They didn’t even smell of smoke!

First name / Friend, God KEPT me! He was with me through it ALL!

At the start of the month I decided to write my prayers down every day till my last day of work (25 days in total), and I only listened to Christian music (I was supposed to abandon Instagram too. Well, we'll try again soon lol). My prayer moments were titled “Operation Japa - November 2021”.  ‘Japa’ is a Yoruba word that means to run away, leave something in haste/urgency, and indeed the decision to leave my job was made with a sense of urgency, an urgency God placed in my heart. The kind of urgency the Israelites had during the first Passover when they left Egypt. They were instructed to be ready in their travel clothes as they ate the Passover meal. I needed to go, I needed to be obedient to witness an answered prayer, I needed to trust God. Let's just say He is working on me, and this is just the start.

On my last day of work, while getting ready, I played a song called “Kabiyesi” by Gbenga Akinfenwa - the song, sung in Yoruba, speaks of God's majesty, His awesomeness, His wonder, His strength and much more. I just couldn't get over the fact that God is indeed King! The all-knowing, incredibly faithful and majestic King who has taken time to consider me, to hear me, to save me. In His royalty, He has wiped my tears, has corrected me, has reassured me time and time again that He's got my back, front and sides. This majestic Being cares so much for me, and He cares for you too, First name / Friend, and for this He is worthy of our praise.

I had NO intention of sharing this life update; however, I believe that The Holy Spirit has inspired my words to encourage you and remind you that God is Our Heavenly Father. I can't emphasise how profound this truth is, but if you've ever doubted God's goodness, let this letter remind you that God is ALWAYS Good! Goodness cannot be separate from God; Goodness is God's DNA!

I'm still processing my decision and trying to get used to not having anything to do (literally). But, this time of rest means I get to practice what I preach as the self-appointed Minister of Rest, and it means I get to see God at work. So, do me a favour and tell God “Thank you” on my behalf because I am confident that He is up to something Good!

❤️
