Hey,

December is my favorite month!!!

That aside, today I went to see my doctor. Have been experiencing loss of mobility in my right shoulder and some pain.

So, I am about to do some physiotherapy. Actually, for the first time.

But wait for the kicker…

I have had these symptoms for 6 months. So, what happened that I decided to go now? Why not wait another 6 months?

It wasn't that I wanted to move away from the pain. And it wasn't that I simply wanted to gain my mobility back.

What made the difference for me was the desire to do my workouts with ease. I did not want to end up using my shoulder as an excuse not to work out one day. Because I love to work out. Because it's December and this means snowboard.

So, I sat down and thought about it.
What are the downsides of not solving the problem?
And what would be the benefits of having a fully-functional shoulder again?

To tell you the truth, it wasn't that pleasant to make an appointment, to speak to others in a language I am yet not comfortable speaking. To have to make appointments for the physio and to take medication.

Once I could clearly see the advantages and disadvantages, I knew what I needed to do. My desire for the benefits grew. And I did all those things I did not particularly like because I wanted the result. I even ended up looking for the positives in those activities that I was perceiving as unpleasant.

I got to socialize. I got to go outside for an extra walk. And I'll be meeting new people, practice my German while doing physio.

This process of gaining clarity is key whenever we want to get something done. Sometimes, our brain makes the decision so quickly that we do not notice the fact that it already analyzed the pros and cons before making a decision.

Other times, with things like creating content or courses, the process is not that quick.

Creating a course, for instance, is not always fun. There are components that take time, mental space, attention, focus, research. It takes courage too.

Establish why you want to do this and why you don't want to do this.

And then choose the side that makes you feel the way that you want to feel. Increase desire. Attach something else to the thing you want to get done. You don't want to create a course but maybe you want to have an evergreen program that people join to change their lives. Maybe it's more freedom or a sense of purpose and impact. You create a legacy that will stand the test of time. (Insert your desire…)

What will you apply this process to today?

Have an expansive time and I'll catch you in the next one!

Hugs,

Tini
