Hi First name / friend!

I cannot believe how close we are to Christmas! This season is absolutely wild and the pace is mad - so one of the things I personally deal with every year is this strange sense of melancholy after it’s all over because it all feels like a blur. I recently heard that there are three reasons why this happens, three things that steal our comfort and joy. They are: distraction, hurry, and regret. That really resonated with me. Stopped me in my tracks really. So, here are three things I’m doing to combat this bad pattern and make this holiday count.

  1. 12 Days of Christmas Movies: I’m sitting down every single night and watching a Christmas movie with my husband or whoever else is at our house. No matter what. I’m further challenging myself to not pull out my phone or other work.
  2. Reading hard copy books by the tree: There is something about soft Christmas jazz in the background, a hard copy book or magazine, and a hot beverage by the twinkle lights that just eliminates the hurry.
  3. Eating the dang cookie. Who cares guys. We can worry about eating healthy in January. This is a season for unbridled JOY. For me, cookies basically are synonymous with joy.

Such love for you all.

Nothing makes me happier than a great recommendation. So here are a few of things that are sparking joy and bringing pockets of peace to my days. I hope you love these things as much as I do! Got a recommendation for our new Slow Down Sunday? Just reply to this email and tell me all about it!

  1. Eat the Dang Cookie Recipe: This is a treasure trove. You are very welcome.
  2. Christmas Craft: Lucy Jane and I will absolutely be making this for Christmas morning:
  3. TikTok Follow: Soaking up all of the @goodmonday content to start mentally laying ground work for January
  4. Book Rec: Love a good YA book? I’m OBSESSED with Blame it on the Mistletoe. All the sweet British holiday vibes + feels like All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Perfect Christmas tree reading
  5. The following Starbucks order, exactly like this: two shots of espresso over ice in a grande cup with one pump of peppermint topped with sugar cookie cold foam. Trust me on this.
