Hi First name / friend!
Well…remember how I said I was going to New York City this week to watch the ball drop in Times Square? Well, COVID strikes again and here we are AGAIN - with another cancelled trip and disappointed hopes. I'm not trying to be dramatic here, I'm really not - but this stuff is kind of breaking my heart.
Someone told me the other day that we're starting season three of COVID and I think that is devastating. I don't want a new normal, you know, I want the old normal.
The thing is though that I know if I get stuck in sadness about this and refuse to accept the reality we ARE living in, I can't move on. There IS still beauty in the world. There IS still hope. I believe that better when I'm grounded and reading Scripture and having uplifting conversations.
So down with doom scrolling. Just call me a silver lining hunter because life IS happening and I'm not going to miss it.
Instead of watching the ball drop in Times Square this New Year's Eve, I'll be playing a Mario Kart tournament in my basement with pajamas and pizza and my best friends. And if you think about it, that's once-in-a-lifetime kind of special too...
Such love for you all.
Em✨
