It was a cold and snowy week here in the PNW and I caught several moments to pause and really feel into my gratitude for the life I’m creating here. I'm thankful to be surrounded by some of my favorite things: nature, art, my dog, a curated home, a sense of security that I can provide for myself, as well as snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes. I celebrated my birthday exactly how I wanted to, had a small ceremony for the Solstice, and a personally fulfilling version of Christmas complete with cooking, long walks in nature and hours being curled up on the fold-out couch reading or watching all my favorite holiday movies.
I'm currently at the Oregon coast thanks to the immense generosity of friends and having a good cry over the ups and downs of this past year. Grateful for the love I have cultivated and with the lessons of the core wounds I came into peaceful, healing relationship.
We have entered a new year in the Gregorian calendar and right on its heels is the imaginative and benefic New Moon in Capricorn peaking at 10:33am tomorrow, January 2, 2022. I’m sure you’ve heard from your favorite astrologers about the luck and expansiveness that Jupiter transiting in Pisces will bring us for the beginning of 2022. This current lunation is a fortuitous time to use your imagination and brainstorm a new (and better) way of working to accomplish our goals for 2022.
Every Capricorn I have ever met is an intensely creative person. They get a reputation for being structured and goal oriented, but they are not without their artistry. And, when you really look at it, it’s a kind of creativity that is different from any other sign. They are capable problem solvers and are adept at building beautiful worlds around themselves. This new moon in Capricorn lends itself to preparation and goal or intention setting, but also to imagination and ingenuity.
If you’re following along with the Human Design new year you’ll know that this energy that we are in right now with the sign in gate 38 definitely puts the pressure on and can make us want to act to be rid of that pressure. But this new moon is offering us a chance at releasing old ideas about how we accomplish our goals. It’s been a strange few years, and you may feel like you haven’t made a whole lot of progress. Or maybe you have, and now you’re in a totally different place, a little unsure of what the next step is. Take some time to get creative with your planning.
What are some possible ways the next year could look like for you in terms of work/life balance?

Capricorn rules the knees and joints, the vestibular system, skin and hair.

Time to detox from all the sugar during the holidays. Inflammation can cause pain and stiffness in our joints, so lots of turmeric, ginger, oranges (Vitamin C!), apples, green leafy vegetables, and low-sodium broths.

Rosemary essential oil can provide topical relief for inflammation, just be sure to mix it with a carrier like almond oil. Rosemary water (fresh rosemary steeped in warm water) can also be used as a rinse for your hair to cleanse the scalp and lock in shine.

Spend a little extra time these days on your skin and facial routine, add some collagen to your vitamins and get a fresh trim from your stylist. (but maybe hold off on the bangs for a bit..)
