As I write this, I’m staring out over the beginnings of the first sunset of the new year. The first day of 2022 is quickly coming to a close.

 

Something that has been on my heart the last couple of days as I ponder this new year is that while New Years and new beginnings are filled with so much beautiful potential, there is also a deep unknown as the next 365 days loom in the future.

 

Will this year also be full of heart ache?

Will I still be single this year?

Will my marriage heal?

Will my illness continue?

Will my old struggles from last year take center stage again this year?

 

And I want to take this time to set the stage for the new year with the reminder that while there may be lots of uncertainty and unknowns ahead, God already goes before us.

 

He has already prepared the path.

He already began the necessary steps for your provision.

 

And one of the many things I love about our God is that He is unchanging. His love never fails. His character remains.

 

When everything around us feels unknown, we can be certain in our uncertainty of His unchanging character and love.

My dear friend, I hope that as we go into the new year, you will rest in knowing that the uncertain is not all that uncertain to God. He goes before us and is already working.

Hello Lord,

Today, at the beginning of this brand new year, I lift up all the possibility to you. I lift up any fears or anxieties I have about the unknown. I lay down the past and leave behind the things I was never meant to carry on my own. I ask that this new year would be filled with exceedingly and abundantly more than I could imagine. I dedicate this new year to you and I trust in your plans and your design.
