Happy New Year, First name / friends!

Can you believe we're in 2022?! As a creative, one of my favorite things about the New Year is the fact that Pantone announces the color of the year.
#CreateWithCatCoq - Color of the Year Artwork
For this week's #CreateWithCatCoq challenge, I want you to create a piece of artwork using Pantone's color of the year - Very Peri! Create a brand new periwinkle piece, or change the color palette of a piece of artwork you already have in your portfolio to a periwinkle tone.

Then share your art on Instagram using the hashtag #CreateWithCatCoq. I have been featuring select participants' artwork, so don't forget to use the hashtag and tag me @catcoq!

One of my favorite ways to capitalize on the trend of the Pantone color of the year is to change the color palette of existing pieces in my portfolio to match this trendy color. Here's an example of what that looks like.

It's important to include the Pantone color of the year in your artwork since it has a massive impact on trends and purchasing decisions for the upcoming year.

But it can be really time-consuming to create a whole new body of work in this one color.

Enter, color adjustments. This is one of my favorite techniques for expanding my portfolio and keying into color trends. I take one piece that I've already created, digitize it, and turn it into multiple new colorways.

And guess what? I adjusted the color on that otter painting in just a few clicks. Want to learn how to do it?

In my class, Cultivating Color, you'll learn how to change the color of your artwork so you can tap into the Veri Peri color trend and grow your portfolio with ease.

Color forecasting is a huge part of keying into upcoming trends, so keeping an eye on the Pantone color of the year and incorporating it into your portfolio is vital if you're looking to grow your creative business in 2022.

There is so much that goes into tracking trends, so I created an entire class about it!

I loved Pantone's description of why they chose Very Peri.

"We are living in transformative times. As we emerge from an intense period of isolation, our notions and standards are changing. Displaying a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit, inquisitive and intriguing PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us up to a new vision as we re-write our lives."

Cheers to a colorful new year full of new possibilities!
