How was the first week of the year?
 
Not sure how you feel about it? I'll help you. Grab a piece of paper or, better yet, an empty notebook and follow these steps:
  • What were your biggest wins? Write them down.
  • Have you set goals for the last week? If yes, what’s the progress % of each?
  • What were your challenges? What did not work?
  • What will you keep, improve, stop or start doing next week?
  • Review all your paper and digital notes from last week.
  • Add reminders for undone tasks on your favorite to-do app.
  • Check your calendar for the past week’s meetings, make sure you have shared/recorded the next actions to move forward.
  • Check the upcoming meetings/appointments/events/gatherings of the 1-2 weeks ahead (work and personal).
  • Add them to your paper/digital calendar with the related reminders where needed (e.g. do not get the gift last minute).
  • Ladies, track and record your cycle. Make sure you know what day it is in your cycle before making big plans.
  • Finally, set your top 3 goals/tasks for the new week and keep them somewhere you can see daily.
Voilà! You just did your first weekly review and started a great habit with me this year. 
 
Weekly reviews help you do monthly reviews; monthly reviews help you do quarterly reviews; quarterly reviews help you do the annual review.
 
Was reading that a bit overwhelming? Don’t let all those reviews scare you. Just start with weekly reviews. Once it’s a habit, go to the next level. It’s the cornerstone of reviews.  It’s one of the secrets to achieving your goals and sticking to your habits. Your 2023 self will thank you. 
 
One more thing, you may want to keep that notebook for reviews only. It will serve you well.
