Hi friends,
Just like last year, I am falling in love with January all over again. It is a special time for me as a mum whose kids are on winter break. My evenings have stretched, and the world got so quiet, so I am enjoying it while it lasts.
I felt my focus shifting inward as I was wintering physically and aligned with the bare nature. I felt my phone was too heavy to hold, and my digital well-being settings confirmed that I used my phone 9.5 hours less than the previous week.
I worked on the visible clutter on the surfaces in my home, TV set, kitchen countertops, dresser, and nightstand. This is the place to start if you are decluttering. The momentum builds up when you see instant improvements versus decluttering a drawer, which does not motivate you to keep going.
Thanks to
this little treat, which I got from Readers in Amman, I am back to reading paper books before bed, not just on my Kindle. My current one is
Wintering. Its title was calling me. Do you feel that about some books, too?
Here is a favorite quote in the book introduction (yes, you get 2 quotes this Sunday, yeey):
“Plants and animals don't fight the winter; they don't pretend it's not happening and attempt to carry on living the same lives that they lived in the summer. They prepare. They adapt. They prefer extraordinary acts of metamorphosis to get them through. Winter is a time of withdrawing from the world, maximizing scant resources, carrying out acts of brutal efficiency and vanishing from sight; but that's where the transformation occurs. Winter is not the death of the life cycle. But its crucible.”
Wow, right?
Exciting News:
I am preparing for my Journaling Workshop, which will take place online on January 29th. I know many of you are interested to learn more about this life-changing habit. Stay tuned for details. Registration will open this week.
