CANVA IS MY LIFE
Ya with me?

I feel like most of you already know about the magic that is Canva. But if not, let me enlighten you.

Being an avid user and lover of Photoshop, I used to HATE on Canva.
I thought it was made for people who don't know “real” graphic design. But maaaan, I was wrong.

Now I use it ALL THE TIME. A few reasons I use it -
  • create quick social media graphics (that you can resize in a flash!)
  • snag a template as a starter for marketing pieces (save your brain space for more important things)
  • use stock photos as examples
  • make your syllabus cuter and more engaging
  • have students create creative resumes
  • create presentations, worksheets, lesson plans, classroom decor
  • and most of all… remove backgrounds from photos (seriously, I think it's wizardry)
I still have to use Photoshop from time to time for photos that may be slightly blurry, blend in with the background, or tricky things like frizzy hair. But the background remover on Canva does a GREAT job about 95% of the time.

A few tips to making images that will be clear once printed:
  • use a canvas that is big enough (I typically use letter size 8.5x11)
  • export as a PNG
  • make sure transparent background is checked
  • be sure the size sliders are the highest they can go
  • make sure “compress file” is not checked
If you didn't already know, Canva Pro is available for teachers FOR FREE! Highly recommend you sign up and give it a try! You may just fall in love!
