When I am feeling overwhelmed and anxious with all the things I am doing, it's like I'm swimming in Cosmic soup, unable to tell where I am or where I'm going because there is no shore I can pin my focus to. But when I am grounded and deeply present with who I am being, I feel the immense power of the Cosmos channeled through me. And then it doesn’t matter where the shore is because I’m not dependent on it for my bearings.
The difference between being concerned with who I am being versus what I am doing has been a pulsing awareness for me for many years now, since before I even started working with my design. Each new lesson in this difference commits me deeper and deeper to my own being. I am less concerned with my relationship to what has always been the standard, the ropes that bind me to the collective ego become looser, and I feel like I don’t even have to swim so hard—I can just sail.
Last summer, we had two full moons in airy Aquarius that saw us breaking the crusty old molds that we no longer fit into. We felt the tension of rebellious Uranus and the fire of the Leo sun fueling our individuality. Tonight’s New Moon in Aquarius will give us the opportunity to explore the themes of individuation and belonging from a whole new perspective. Although in a tense square to Uranus, the new moon is conjunct Saturn favoring order over chaos. We have had six months to step outside of the tired boxes that held us in place for the benefit of others (and even for a version of ourselves). Now, we are able to think expansively about who we want to be emotionally and in our relationships, while also not blowing the whole house up.
Aquarius is an intellectual sign, but not so high falutin as Sagittarius (all the ♥️ to my fellow philosophical archers). Aquarius wants us to consider our relationship to the collective and our community, as well as the benefit of individuation to the greater whole. It can be easy to get lost in your thoughts here, so remember that thinking is a tool for understanding our reality. What we think is not reality itself. Also a sign of convictions, once Aquarius has decided their truth it is difficult for them to divert from following it. This can lead us through the necessary lessons to understanding what our truth actually is. So as you embark on this new moon with new intentions for yourself, remember that the only constant is change and Uranus will have your back.
Mercury goes direct on Friday February 4 (Thursday night EST), the sun will be conjunct Saturn and the moon conjunct Neptune, so take some time on this day to find your quiet. Meditate, put your headphones in with white noise, get as still as you can, let your mind be a glassy pond, and open yourself to receive any messages coming through for you. Things should start to feel clearer with our communication, but best not to sign any contracts or make commitments until after Feb 14 (if you can help it).
FOR THE BODY
Aquarius rules the lower legs; the shins, calves, ankles and Achilles tendon.
◦
I have a friend who repeatedly twists their ankle in totally benign situations. So, when we're trying to get somewhere fast or going over uneven terrain we always warn one another: “Don't roll your ankle like a dumb bitch!” (i.e. Pay attention to where you're going.)
◦ Raise your legs against a wall and roll the ankles to diminish any swelling from the day and flush fluid back into the inguinal lymph nodes.
◦
You can use a tennis ball to roll out the calves, and massage the lower legs like you're kneading bread. Best done seated to relax the tissues that you're targeting.
◦
Aquarius is also an air sign, so it has correlations with the oxygenation of the body. Each time you're at a stop light, or when you're washing your hands, remember to take three deep belly breaths.
Keep an eye out for more on the paradox of individuation. It’s a theme we’ll be exploring for most of February and I’ll be right here with you to provide a buoy for when the tides get a little wild. On the note of what to look forward to, Honored Body is growing! And while this is very exciting, I want to make sure that she’s* still providing you with the content that you’ve grown to love!
