Basalt Chamber of Commerce
The Thirlby Company first supported the Basalt Chamber in September 2020, when their executive director enrolled into our nonprofit leadership coaching program. Last year, the Thirlby Co. facilitated various strategic planning projects and provided continued services to the staff and board.
Here are a few words from the chamber's executive director, Kris Mattera:
Why did your team decide to hire The Thirlby Company?
“My supportive board encouraged me to seek out coaching to grow both professionally and personally. As a newer executive director, coaching was essential to take me and the organization to the next level. As a former executive director, Margie understood my board and nonprofit challenges, was familiar with our rural community, and knows what it is like to be a woman in a leadership position. Margie showed me that leadership can look different - it isn’t just the traditional aggressive examples we see. Only then did I recognize myself as a leader."
What outcomes has your team achieved through our work together?
“I am now a more confident leader, we have a better functioning board, and we are an organization poised to take on big initiatives based on our strategic plan. In short - our work together helped us get unstuck. Finally - I don't want to admit this - I’m no longer terrified of every Board meeting! The ability to be vulnerable about the challenges of my role with someone who has lived it was invaluable.”
