YOU SNOOZE YOU WIN!
Hi dear friends!

We love to dive deeper into some topics that have been present in our lives every month. This February we have been curious about sleep. It's something so mundane that we can sometimes take for granted, but have you ever noticed how much your life can change when you sleep well?

There is a whole lot that goes on when we sleep. Our bodies heal and repair and digest. The brain stores information and gets rid of toxic waste. Our hormones get regulated. This rest is vital to our overall health. Spiritually, when we don't get enough sleep we block our power, creativity, and intuition. We want to be able to feel our intuition, and to be awake and energized to take the aligned action. Sleep deprivation can also be a symptom that we have some emotions we need to take a deeper look at. So is there anything we can do to get better sleep?

The good news - there are so many ways we can improve our sleep! Here I want to share our best tips with you.

REST EVERY DAY
Every day, find 10 minutes where you put on a timer on your phone, set in on flight mode, and put your legs up the wall. This restorative yoga pose is genius. It calms our mind, increases circulation, improves our digestion as your body taps into rest and digest mode. This pose also helps us improve sleep as it lowers our heart rate, which in turn helps lower anxiety, stress, and insomnia. This will feel like a power nap without sleeping.

DELICIOUS LATTES
Lower your caffeine intake. After 1 pm it's much better to switch to herbal tea or make yourself some beautiful adaptogenic lattes or tonics! One of our favorites is making a turmeric latte healing benefits. Read more about turmeric here: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/health-benefits-turmeric

Recipe:
2 dl oat milk
1/4 tsp Anima Mundi turmeric
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp maple syrup or honey
1 grind of black pepper

Add all ingredients to a pot and warm it up slowly (do not boil). If you have a milk frother, it makes the latte even better with some foamed milk. Enjoy with extra cinnamon on top.

MAKE YOUR BEDROOM A SANCTUARY
Create a temple where you sleep. Make it feel like a cozy and safe space for you to lie down and open up to your dreams. Taking 10 minutes to clean and organize your space will make you feel so much more relaxed when you are ready for bed.

DREAM JOURNALING
Make bedtime something you look forward to. Light up a beautiful candle or incense, take out your journal, and write down things that made you happy or grateful throughout the day. If you have a lot of emotions coming up, journaling is a beautiful way to release your emotions before bedtime. We also love to journal our dreams in the morning and look at what's going on in our subconscious.

READING VS SCROLLING
We all know this, but it's a hard one. Swap out the iPhone scrolling with a good book. The blue light from devices sends a signal to our bodies that it's daytime, and makes it harder to sleep, as well as affecting our hormones. Reading a book at night time instead of scrolling on our phones makes the biggest difference. If we have discipline in this area we have so much better sleep. I am currently reading the 7 Spirituals Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra and cannot recommend it more. It makes me feel so calm and safe that I fall asleep after only a few pages.

BEAUTY SLEEP WITH SLEEP MASK
Use a sleep mask or black-out curtains to keep the sunshine out of the room while sleeping. This will help our bodies produce melatonin, our favorite sleep hormone. Using a sleeping mask is beneficial for your skin as it keeps your eye area hydrated and has been proven to prevent wrinkles.

MOVEMENT MEDICINE AND SUNSHINE
Get enough movement during the day. This might look different every day, but taking some time to step outside and breathe in the fresh air, stretch, and take deep belly breaths makes our bodies feel happy. This way we help regulate our nervous systems, hormones, and blood flow. Also, when the sun is out, our bodies love getting some exposure to the sun, it's truly healing and rejuvenating. Not only does it help our sleep, but it is a true mood booster.
