The Weekly Roundup

Good Morning Beautiful!

Happy Friday everyone! The weekend is just around the corner, YAY! I hope you all had a fun holiday weekend and great week too. I spent the holiday weekend at home! I started some early spring cleaning, I took Audriana on a couple of long walks with a little training added in. She was not down with that, but it needs to be done to reign in her “my way or the highway" attitude she has about pretty much everything! I also got a little jump start on blog posts and the newsletter and I relaxed too. It was wonderful to just unplug from daily life for 3 days! This week was a short week so I was a little busier that the norm, but I accomplished everything that needed to get done this week with two blog posts for Glam Budget Beauty, writing this newsletter and writing the post for Audriana's Corner and business for Glam Budget Boutique too, but the work week is done and I am glad about that and now I am ready to start my weekend, but first, I have house chores that need to be done first before I start my weekend, so I am off to take care of that and I hope you all have a fun filled weekend!  Now, let's move on to the rest of this week's roundup!

This Week's Favorites

Here's What I Have Been Loving This Week:

Physicians Formula Ultimate Murumuru Butter Collection – I brought this back out of my collection to retry, and I remember why I loved it when I bought it. This has all the shades of the butter bronzers, butter blushes, butter highlighters, butter lip creams and butter eyeshadows all in one kit! I really enjoyed using this over the week and will keep this out to use more. This is a one and done kit, the possibilities are endless with the looks you can create and is perfect for travel too. ($39.99)

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution – This a great glycolic acid toner! I use an exfoliating cotton round after cleansing my face in the morning and this toner removes dead skin cells, dirt and left over makeup residue from the night before. Besides containing glycolic acid, it also has Tasmanian Pepperberry, aloe and glycerin and is not drying at all. ($10 for 8.0 oz.)

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Brighten & Correct Duo (in the shade 2N) – I have been really liking this dual corrector and brightener. The corrector side is a light peachy tone which does well covering my dark undereye circles and the brightener side really highlights and brightens the rest of my undereye. ($32) This was sent to me in PR

e.l.f. Cosmetics Big Mood Mega Volume & Lifting Mascara - This mascara is really good! I has an hourglass shaped wand and gave me lots of volume, length & lift. it did not flake or smear everywhere and lasted all day. ($7)

Wet n Wild Bare Focus Tinted Hydrator (in the shade Light Medium) - Wow! I was surprised with the amount of coverage this gave me! This covers more like a foundation than a tinted hydrator. The coverage is buildable from sheer to medium, doesn't look or feel cakey and has hyaluronic acid & Squalane. ($6.49  for 0.91 oz.)

This Week's Failures

Here's What I Have NOT Been Loving This Week:

Thayers Aloe Vera Witch Hazel Facial Mist in Rose Petal  - I like this facial toner mist, just not this time of year. It's drying for my skin right now, so I will bring this back out to use when the weather warms up. ($10.95 for 8.0 oz.)

Cleen Beauty Avocado Hemp Butter Sleep Mask - This is supposed to hydrate, brighten & refresh your skin overnight while you sleep. I didn't wake up to brighter or fresher skin, but my skin did feel hydrated. This did not “wow” me, so once it's gone, I will not replace it. (this came in the Walmart Beauty Box for fall)

Ways To Keep Your Dog Walks Interesting

It's time to do the happy dance because Friday is here! Welcome back to Audriana's Corner! I'm Audriana and it's great to bark with all of you again this week! I hope you all had a great holiday weekend and week too! Mama and I spent the entire holiday weekend together and we went on some walks around different parts of our condo complex and it was fun for me and it was nice to explore new terrain in my own “backyard." So, I barked to mama that I want my next post here to be about ways to keep your dog walks fun and entertaining and here are my tips to do just that:

Ways to Keep Your Dog Walks Interesting

Walking your dog is not only a form of exercise; it’s also an opportunity for your dog to explore the world and learn some good behaviors and, of course, there is the opportunity to pee and poo. However, having the same dog walking basics every day can be dull and boring. While your dog may be always excited for the walk, some people may grow less and less optimistic each day that they would wish someone could just walk their dog instead. It doesn’t have to be that way all the time. These simple tips should make your daily walk more interesting not only for you, but also for your furry companion:

Explore a New Trail

Taking the same trail every day can really be boring. So, you might want to change things up a bit. Maybe it’s time to take that other turn you always ignored. Exploring a new trail offers new sights, sounds, and even smells. Also, a different scene can be very exciting for both of you. You can start with a new park, or maybe a biking trail. Just make sure that you are taking a safe path and using the right harnesses for them. Ideally, before you explore, do research on safe trails in your area.

Change the Pace

If your dog walk is fairly quick every time, maybe you can slow down the next time and enjoy the surroundings. If you walk leisurely, then you may add some intensity. Also, learn to set the pace because this can also lead to better loose-leash walking. When you periodically change your pace, you teach your dog to pay attention, stay focused, and be close to you.

Let Your Dog Explore

As mentioned earlier, your daily walk is also a chance for your dog to explore the outside world, so let your dog do so. Take a few minutes off the walk to let your furry companion sniff around. It’s their way of exploring and discovering new things, providing an opportunity for mental and sensory stimulation. But always observe safety measures when exploring.

Add Some Training Exercises

It’s not good to have a dog that follows instructions only when you are at home or in a training class. It is important to do training exercises in all sorts of places so that your dog will also get used to do what is asked of them, even with distractions around. As a complement to this routine, you should prepare some rewards the same way they do in a training class. Make sure to give your furry pal a treat whenever your dog is able to successfully accomplish a task, or if she is able to stay away from distractions.

Walk and Play

Your daily walk does not have to be all about walking. Bring along a toy so that you can have some playtime as well. A ball, a flying disc, or your dog’s favorite toy will surely add some fun in your walks while providing more bonding moments. But still, make sure playtime is earned by your dog. For instance, if he has behaved during the first part of the walk, then you can reward her with some “throw-and-fetch.”

Break the Ice

Since you are already out, then maybe you can do other stuff while not deviating from the purpose of the activity, which is for your dog to get out, breathe fresh air, and have some exercise. Your dog can tag along while you do some errands. By the end of the walk, you don’t just benefit your dog, you also get to accomplish some other personal tasks.

Make Some New Friends

Dog walking is a great opportunity to meet other people and their pets, as well as make new friends. With this, you get to enjoy a couple of minutes to talk with other dog parents and chance to socialize and get updated with important things going on in your community. Also, take note that most of these furry creatures like a little bit of attention every now and then, so it’s always a good idea to ask the other person if it’s okay for your dog to greet their dog. If not, then you can just keep greetings short but sweet.

So, if your daily dog-walking routine becomes dull and uninteresting, then these simple ways can add some spice to it. In addition, always keep in mind that walking your dog is very beneficial for you and your canine companion, especially for their health and fitness, so try to be always optimistic about it.

That's all I have for you this week. I hope you all have a fun Friday and a fun weekend and I will bark with you all again next week!

This Week's Recipe
Stuffed Tex-Mex Spaghetti Squash

This Stuffed Tex-Mex Baked Spaghetti Squash has protein-packed beans and chicken. Toss in some spice, salsa, fresh cilantro, and top it all off with cheese and you have a delicious dinner for two! (or double the recipe for 4 people) Here is how to make it:

Ingredients:
1 (3-ounce) cooked chicken breast, cut into chunks
1 medium spaghetti squash (about 4 cups cooked)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup kidney or black beans, drained and rinsed
1 cup salsa (fresh or jarred)
3 tablespoons fresh cilantro or flat leaf parsley, chopped
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Sea salt & pepper
1 tablespoon chili flakes (optional)

Directions:
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F and line your baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Cut the spaghetti squash in half and scoop out the seeds then rub the inside with olive oil and sprinkle sea salt & pepper. Place face down on the baking sheet and bake for about 25-30 minutes. The edges on the inside should be a bit browned and shreds should form easily with a fork.
  3. Meanwhile, toss the chili flakes with the cheeses and stir the fresh cilantro or parsley into the salsa.
  4. When the squash is ready, take it out and let it stand for 5 minutes. Turn the oven to the broiler setting. Fully shred the squash with a fork, leaving the shell intact because you will be stuffing it.
  5. Transfer the spaghetti squash to a mixing bowl. Stir in the salsa, followed by the beans and chicken. Split the mixture in half and stuff each spaghetti squash shell. Top with the shredded cheese.
  6. Place them back on the same baking sheet & broil until bubbly and browned. About 3-4 minutes.
