One of the biggest myths about professional seamless patterns is that they have to be created in Adobe Illustrator and that they must be a vector file. 99% of my seamless pattern designs are raster (pixel-based) images that I've digitized after creating them by hand, so it's safe to say that myth is busted! I absolutely love the charming imperfections and visible brushstrokes that you get with hand-drawn art, and I'm thrilled to get to share my technique for creating patterns out of hand-painted elements with you in this class. |
|
There is a lot to cover when it comes to creating a digitized seamless pattern from hand-drawn elements. This is a step-by-step class that covers the whole process from start to finish. You'll start with a blank page and create alongside me to paint and digitize a beautiful seamless pattern. |
|
In this class you'll learn: - How to turn watercolor illustrations into a pattern in photoshop
- Techniques for choosing motifs that are strong sellers
- Painting or drawing elements in the most optimal method for seamless patterns
- Professional advice for painting in a way that's going to make digitizing your artwork much easier
- How to remove a paper texture background in Photoshop
- The simple way to arrange your painted elements into a seamless pattern in Photoshop
- Answers to the top surface design questions that I get asked
- Tips for starting out as a surface designer
And that's just scratching the surface! This class is jam-packed with everything I wish I knew when I was first learning how to create seamless patterns for art licensing. |
|
While the class covers all of my best tips for professional pattern making, it's perfect for all levels. Whether you're an experienced artist looking to break into surface design or a complete beginner who wants to learn watercolor and pattern-making techniques, this class is for you! |
