Hi friends,

Feeling uneasy, I journaled about last week:

  • I did not wake up early every day.
  • I skipped writing my affirmations and visualization practice.
  • I forgot my morning exercises and hardly walked.
  • I had coffee at night.
  • I got stuck in morning traffic, resulting in being late to work.

That was what came first to mind. But it is only half of the story.
I then asked myself what good things happened in that same week, and the answers poured out of my pen:

  • I launched my second journaling workshop with delightful attendees. Afterward, I enjoyed staying up late with a snack and an episode of Seinfeld.
  • I had that late coffee when I met my brilliant mastermind group for the first time this year; the meeting was too good for tea. I learned that starting work at 10 AM as per the governmentā€™s advice was a bad idea that I needed to ignore, which I did the day after and was the first to arrive at work, instead.
  • I did not skip a day of meditation or reading my spiritual book.
  • I walked in the cold weather two times to make up for my lack of movement at the beginning of the week.
  • I wrote four new blog posts and daily on Twitter.

Once again, I was feeling uneasy because of that perfectionism rearing its ugly head, demanding to do it all at the same time, or it would not count as success, but I chose to dig deeper and not stop at the first answers I got. Looking for the good helped me overcome it.

Bad day? Try it. Ask yourself: what good did you still manage to do? Eating a healthy breakfast counts; calling your friend counts; smiling at a stranger surely counts. Youā€™ll be surprised to find out how much good you still made happen. Then at night, as you climb into bed, say to yourself what the author Brene Brown taught us: ā€œNo matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough.ā€

Although the weather still does not agree, happy first day of Spring šŸŒ·  to you all. I love this particular seasonal transition so much, and of course, happy Mother's Day  to you and your mothers, aunts and grandmothers. May you celebrate it beautifully šŸ™

Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark āš”ļø a newsletter listing 5 inspiring things I thought were worth starting your week with:

  1. From my desk: How does planning help you be present?
  2. From my desk: Is a change in your life making you worried about stopping a habit you worked so hard for? Here is what I believe.
  3. Seth Godin asked a beautiful question that you would want to consider in your goal-setting process: How should we celebrate your day?
  4. This is how ā€œbadā€ can be the first step to ā€œgoodā€.
  5. A quote that perfectly aligns with Spark #1:
"Stress is caused by being ā€œhereā€ but wanting to be ā€œthere,ā€ or being in the present but wanting to be in the future. Itā€™s a split that tears you apart inside."
ā€• Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now
