I'm sure you all are well aware by now of recent economic inflation that has affected all of us in some form or fashion. I dread opening my emails in the morning because I know another vendor will be sending a “price increase” notice.
I know you can commiserate when you are shopping for groceries or other necessities, filling up your tank, or paying your electricity bill. We are all feeling this squeeze, and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.
After shipping costs increased so greatly last year, I made a few adjustments to our pricing structure to reflect the added expense. Otherwise, I've done my best to keep prices as stable as possible and not make any “across the board” changes - no standard 3%, 5%, or 10% increases.
Recently Etsy announced it would be increasing its sales fee charged to sellers - this is Etsy's commission for each sale. When I began selling on Etsy, this fee was around 3.5%. Sometime in 2018, the fee was increased to 5%. And on April 11, this fee will increase to 6.5%. For a little perspective, this is a 30% increase!
I've been mulling this over since they announced the increase in February… unsure of what to do (Take a deep breath because this is not an announcement that I plan to close our Etsy shop!). Etsy has been a stable source of revenue for the shop thus far, and I certainly wouldn't be where I am today without this marketplace. Many of you who have subscribed to my newsletters or who follow me on Instagram first found me there, so I am eternally grateful to be able to utilize their platform!
Beginning April 11, you will notice different prices in our Etsy shop versus our website. Some of you prefer to purchase our pillows through Etsy, and I hope you'll continue to support us in that way! However, I want to give you a fair notice of this change in case you'd prefer to shop through our website instead.
You will still find the same custom pillow covers on Etsy as you do on our website, plus you'll continue to find a selection of “Ready to Ship" items available on Etsy that you won't find on our website (more about that below, though!).
I cannot thank you enough for your support over the past couple of years, and I hope you'll continue to keep our shop in mind as you source pillows for your home.
