Institutional investors are well positioned to benefit this spring and beyond.

Direct-to-consumer value is increasing to reflect shifting volume. In fact, winery direct-to-consumer shipments grew 7% to over $175 million while the average bottle price of shipments is up 16% compared to only a year ago.

How did this increase in value come about? Jenny shares her insights in this month’s blog post.
Major Milestone for San Luis Obispo County Wine Region

San Luis Obispo (SLO) Coast recently became an official American Viticulture Area (AVA). But what does that mean? SLO Coast Wine helps explain:

“Stretching from the border of Santa Barbara County to the Monterey County Line, this AVA includes all vineyards within this 15-mile swath, bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Lucia Mountains. This corridor houses 78 vineyards with 3,942 acres planted to vines and while a majority may be Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this cool-climate region also plays host to a diversified lineup of other varieties like Albariño, Riesling, Grenache, Zinfandel, and Syrah. For consumers, this new designation gives their wine a true sense of place and understanding of climate soils, and geographic location.”

Located in the El Pomar District, the vineyard is known for Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Petite Syrah. This acquisition will be the seventh estate vineyard in Paso Robles for the family. The 100-acre property was chosen for its unique calcareous (limestone) soil and high-quality water supply.

“Our family is thrilled to add another vineyard from the highly sought after El Pomar District AVA”, says 4th generation winemaker, Anthony Riboli. “We are excited to continue expanding in Paso Robles fresh off our acquisition of Jada Vineyard and Winery.”
