These last few weeks have been a bit hectic here as we were preparing for our Spring Open House & Farm Tour. We were blessed with beautiful weather, beautiful guests, and some of the most delectable food I’ve had in a while. We’re still recovering this week, but be sure to read next week’s newsletter to get the full story.
One of the highlights of Sunday’s event was the birth of our first spring lamb during the Farm Tour. Both Mom and baby are doing well; this was her first lambing yet she handled it like a seasoned pro. Having newborns on the ranch is always delightful, but lambs are particularly charming because they leap and hop about the place with unrestrained enthusiasm. We have more lambs on the way so be sure to follow us on Instagram/Facebook to see videos of their antics.
Meet Archie
As our flock grows it's only fitting to increase our security. Say hello to Archie, our new livestock guardian dog.
Archie, an 18-month-old Great Pyrenees, joined our ranch family today. Despite experiencing his first trip away from his old home and his first ride in a vehicle, he seems fairly laid-back. As soon as he stepped out of his crate, he was exploring his new pasture and getting acquainted with the sheep. He was raised with a flock of goats and chickens so he’s familiar with the task at hand. We’re very grateful to have his help keeping our growing flock safe.
