Breakfast is a favorite meal of mine, especially delicious with my family. During the week the first meal of the day consists of a cup of coffee and a piece of toast. On the weekends we love to get together as a family and enjoy a big breakfast. The table is filled with our favorites grits, scrambled eggs, buttermilk biscuits and bacon. We are all together,  listening, learning and keeping our dogs Ruby and Bean away from the bacon, which is never easy.

After my parents divorced I would spend the weekends with my Dad. For me it was an adventure. If we were not traveling to visit my Grandmother in North Carolina or fishing, we were out and about in Frankfort KY.  On Saturday's we left the house early to grab breakfast at one of our special hang outs. Our favorites included a diner called Marshalls in downtown, Cantrell's Truck stop out in the country or at my Dad's friends house. George was a lobbyist in DC, when he was in town he would invite us over. 

Whether we were at a local restaurant or at George's the conversation was lively and the food delicious.

My favorite breakfast is sausage gravy over biscuits, scrambled eggs and cheesy grits. These days I add fruit to my plate, as a kid the only fruit I remember where in the jelly packets.
