Me and my serious face on the horse that kept me safe on the muster: ‘’Dicko''

Hi First name / friend

I hope we all recovered from our easter food coma! I've had an eventful couple of weeks to say the least. I joined the Middlehurst autumn cattle muster on horseback and had multiple photo sessions in Marlborough. Lot's of time spent on farms which I can easily say, they're my favourite places to spend time on.
This weeks' journal will have farmer stories and heaps of photos.

TIM  MOORE

The dogs bark as a white truck drives up the driveway.  Out steps a man with a feather poking out his felt hat, that's Tim.  ‘’Come out on the farm with me'' he says, ‘’we're getting the rams out, grab your camera''.

We drive with a comfortable speed to Walhalla farm where the rams are drafted and loaded on the trailer. Tim gives me yarns about the history of these yards and the house up the hill that he and his wife used to live in when their kids were only babies.

Tim gets behind the wheel, starts the ute and within 40 minutes we're out in the back of the farm. We get out and the view is mind blowing. The ocean merges in to alpine environment when I look from my far left to the far right.

‘’It's time for the rams to show us what they are bred for.'' Tim says while he opens the trailer and lets them out. We drive a bit further to the ewes and shift them towards the rams. In 5 months we will see with our own eyes how many lambs these rams have fathered.

As I follow Tim, Carmen, his wife, comes along on this venture. ‘’Don't take photos of me, capture the man and his land'' She says with a friendly smile poking under her straw sunhat. As Tim is doing his jobs, Carmen is shoo-ing the rams, opens and closes gates and picks up old timber from the yards ‘’that will be perfect for my garden''. In her bright pink fashion she is the strong and cheerful woman behind Tim.

Curious to know what it's like to work with me?
I explain my whole process down below:

swish and john

I drive up a beautiful driveway. To my right I see the homestead covered with white flowers and inside if find Swish feeding wee Harry, John is doing the last farm admin and little Georgia and William are playing on their electric toy guitars.

Not even 5 years ago I first met Swish and John when they were pregnant of little William and today I find a crew in full action. Wow!

We all go on the farm and do easter-egg-hunts, eat heaps of chocolate, go for walks and play tag. It's a cruisy afternoon with simply having such a good time.
